By reviewing existing manufacturing methods, Westcut have been able to reduce component manufacturing costs by up to 64% for a food industry OEM.
This was achieved by changing from a machining process to a pressing operation. Specialist low cost tooling was developed in our Toolroom and samples produced to an acceptable quality.
By obtaining long term order coverage, tooling costs were absorbed and production volumes are now being produced in our Press Shop. Benefits to the customer included lower unit costs, no tooling charges, quicker turnaround of components due to faster process allowing for lower inventory levels and greater cash flow.
